                                          GRUICH WALK-IN CLINIC

                                                                    -- CORONAVIRUS--
  1. We will stay open during the coronavirus pandemic.
  2. We are exercising special care with respect to minimizing personal contact. Patients with cough, fever, or respiratory symptoms are asked to notify staff on arrival and wait in their vehicle. You will be called in order of arrival and placed immediately in an exam room.
  3. All patients with respiratory symptoms will be asked to wear a mask.
  4. Testing for coronavirus will be done based on history and exam findings. It will be transported by, and processed by the County and State Health Departments respectively, with a $10 handling fee. Commercial testing is available without screening at additional cost. COVID-19 ANTIBODY testing is available now with or without an office visit.
  5. Dr. Gruich will be available for established patients for no-charge Skype consultations, or Google Duo, between 4:30 pm and 5:30 pm Monday - Thursday; and Saturday and Sunday 1 pm to 3 pm.

This year marks the 41st anniversary of our clinic providing primary medical care.  We've been blessed over the years and are appreciative and privileged to have provided care to two and three generations.

We opened in July 1979, one month after completing my postgraduate work at LSU Medical Center in Shreveport, Louisiana, and that after completing medical school at the University of Mississippi School of Medicine.

I've had the privilege of meeting and befriending many people over these years and am always looking forward to meeting new people.

Knowing most people would rather be somewhere other than a doctor's office we strive to make the visit as pleasant as possible.  Understandably, having one's blood drawn, receiving a shot, or being poked about can lessen anything meant to be pleasant.  But for the most part I think we do a pretty good job.

We emphasize healthcare maintenance and prevention in teens, adults, and in those up in years who are wise and humble.  We emphasize preventive medicine and education.  We provide psychotherapeutic counseling.  And we also perform school and sports physicals, and diabetic care.  And we can do this with same-day appointments.

Our office hours are Monday thru Friday 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 1:30 p.m. to 5 p.m.  We are a Walk-In Clinic and will also honor and prioritize requested appointments.  Our wait times are minimal.

Unlike many primary care physicians on the Coast who've chosen to be an employee of a hospital or corporation, I remain independent and free from business-imposed monthly test quotas that may bear upon clinical decision-making.  This means that only the tests and xrays that are necessary for your health interests will be ordered, discussed, and agreed to by us together.  Treatment and diagnostic testing decisions are made in your personal interests alone and not those of a clinic owned or operated by a hospital or large corporation, which may subordinate a patient's interests to theirs.

The blog, published every five days or so, is a sharing of personal experience, new medical advances, and medical parables with a view towards educating and providing insight on various cultural, social, and political issues that come to bear upon all of us as it pertains to improving our health.

We strive to be friendly, knowledgeable, and as caring as possible.  I strive to make clear the communication between doctor and patient, a relationship I view as paramount to the benefit of the patient.  Matters are explained clearly and succinctly without using $5 words.

Over the years, and for various reasons, there have been many health care professionals of all stripes to come and go.  As for us, we've been here for 39 years and will continue to roll on, to be here for you.

We continue to accept NEW PATIENTS as well as WALK-INS.

Again, thank you for visiting.

In good health!
